Platon Mazarakis traveled out to San Francisco on the weekend of Septemeber 30-October 2 to participate in the NetSuite San Francisco Gold Tournament.
Platon was one of seven non-West Coast players to participate in the event. Platon got off to a winning start with 2 victories in the main draw against 2 west coast opponents. The first one was 4 games and the second was 3 straight.
The next match was against the #2 seeded player in the draw. Platon battled well with the seeded player but came up short in a hard fought 3 gamer. According to spectators every point was contested at the highest levels and the crowd was on the edge of their seats throughout the match.
In the Classic Plate Platon focused intensely on his task at hand and played his best squash of the event. He went on to win the next 2 matches. Both in 4 games.
