PJS’s Eric Zhang and Lily Purtuc swept their respective fields of U11 competitors at the Sy Perskins U11 Silver tournament during the weekend of October 12-14 at the Pingry School.
Eric’s draw was a round robin. His progression through the draw however, was not easy. His first 2 matches were hard fought victories. In his first match he won games 2, 3, and 5, and in his second match he won games 2, 4 and 5. Each match had Eric winning the 5th game comfortably leaving no doubt as to who was in final control of the match. The remaining 2 matches Eric won in straight games.
Lily’s draw was also a Round Robin. She won her first match 3-0. The second match was very contested and Lily found herself down 2-1. Not losing heart she battled back to take the next 2 games 11-8 and 11-9. The 3rd and final match was a convincing, 11-8, 11-3, 11-6.
Way to go Eric and Lily. Congratulations from all the staff and players at PJS.
